My Furry Pawmily by Teacher Penny

“Live. Laugh. Bark.” – Unknown

I'm Teacher Penny and everybody knows me as a proud fur mommy.

I never imagined that I would end up being a teacher. But I love meeting people and having conversations so it led me to teach. I find it very interesting and fun when I get to know other people's insights. Being an ESL teacher gave me the opportunity to enhance my English communication skills and impart my knowledge to others. It makes me happy to see my students enjoy learning English. As much as I love going to work, I'm also excited to go home.

CHUNKEE

"They are not my pets". "They are my babies," I say with a grin. Many people asked me how many kids I have and I often answer, that I have quite a handful of tail-wagging, face-licking, and sharply-barking four-legged "Anak". I never would have imagined that I would have these many children. My first fur baby was Chunkee, a red male Dachshund who used to love motorcycle rides and watching TV. At present, I have a total of 9, a Shih Tzu fam of 5, and 4 mix-breeds mutts. Not just that, there are extended furbabies outside that also seek my affection every time they see me. Having dogs at home gives me an unimaginable amount of love. They never fail to welcome me as if we didn't see each other every day. With their squeals and kisses, I can tell how genuine and true their love is for me. Sometimes, I feel guilty that I can't spend enough time with them. I also have limited financial resources, so I can't spoil them with things such as treats, clothes, and accessories. But I always make sure to buy their dog food before mine. That, along with some vitamins, is at the top of my shopping list. With all of the expenses, I am always motivated to work hard for them. As a fur mom, I want to give them the best of me. They have shorter lives than us and need to be filled with happy memories and lots of love and care every single day. I made sure to tell them how much I love them all. I am truly grateful that I am loved by them.

And now, let me introduce you to my pack!

EEWOK

A 5-year-old Shorkie, Shih Tzu x Yorkshire Terrier, also known as Papa Wowoo. He is sweet but moody. He seldom plays with the fam and prefers to be alone.

MOMI CHEENE

A 4-year-old Shih Tzu princess. Actually, her previous name was Charrie but it didn't sound good to me so I changed it when I got her. She is a loving but feisty mama.

AIRO

This sweet 1-year-old boy is a Parvo survivor. Sadly, I lost his brother Argo to the same illness. He loves to cuddle and play.

PENNY

Here's Penelope, a.k.a. Penny. Now you know where my name comes from. She's on a strict diet, such a picky-eater. She was the reason why most of my eyeglasses had teeth marks. She loves to snuggle and be quiet most of the time.

COCO

The youngest of the family is Coco, a 4-month-old Aspin. A very clingy baby that never stops biting and shredding things to pieces.

PEPPER

Here's Pepper who I sometimes call Pepperoo. She is the cage-climbing daughter of Penny. She is very energetic. She just turned 1 last August.

I also have my older Aspin children namely Blu, Boo, and Pola. They are the guardians of our home. They are watching over us 24/7.

BLU

BOO

POLA

Many dog lovers could identify themselves with me. Surely they'll agree that when you get a pet, it is a lifetime commitment. They are not something that you can disregard when you don't like them anymore. Having them is costly and imposes a big responsibility. But all kinds of dogs are worth loving. I am blessed to have the privilege to love and be loved wholeheartedly. So, you should get a fur baby to totally understand why I love being a fur momi.

PS

I have so much love to give! I used to have a goat, a fish, hamsters, and rabbits. I also have 6 cheerful ducks now.
