Ways to live a better life by Teacher Karen

 

 

Life is already good but we can make it better. It won't be easy but it's worth a journey. Challenges will surely come our way but we need not fear it. Let's face it head on and I promise the ride is worth the pay. So here's my 5 simple ways to make our lives better. 



GET A COFFEE

 

 

 

I call it the "Me Time" of the day. I always start my day with a cup of coffee. I think it's one of the reasons I get motivated to start moving. I use the time to think about how my day and plans should go, and what to look forward to. I get the chance to contemplate how great life is. Have an alone time with yourself before you start any task for that day.

 


GET A PET

 

 

 

According to studies, owning a pet has positive effects on your health, such as reducing stress, loneliness or  anxiety. So I always look forward to getting home just to see my dog. All the tiredness I feel for the day gets washed away by Yumi. She patiently waits for me to get home and greets me excitedly after being apart for a whole day. It gives me this warmth feeling knowing that she is happy to see me even without the treats.

 


PAMPER YOURSELF

 

 

 

Don't feel guilty if you drink milk tea, eat at your favorite fast-food restaurant, or order something online! You have to spoil yourself once in a while because surviving each day or getting yourself out of bed and going to work or school is already a big deal. You have faced different battles each day, either with people or at work. So, if you feel like eating something, then grab it! And of course, when you accomplish a small task, reward yourself! Success is success, and a win is a win!


 

ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD

 

 Turn negative thoughts into positive ones. Why? We have to change the way we see things sometimes. Yes, we sometimes feel that all the things in the world are against us. This often happens to me, and all I can do is think that it's just a bad day, not a bad life. We also have to consider that we are not at our best all the time. There are a lot of things to consider; maybe we are physically drained, mentally unstable, or emotionally hurt, so the first thing we need to do is forgive ourselves. We always have our turn in life, and I do believe that every day is another day; it’s just that it’s not our turn today. If we did not do well today, then we can try again tomorrow. At least you did your best, and that's enough. You are enough.


BE CONTENTED

 

Just out of curiosity, I asked a lot of people this question: "How do you make your life better?". Someone answered with a smile on her face and said "BE CONTENTED". It was so far the shortest and simplest answer I received. When she said that, I had goosebumps. And that's it! I realized that if you learn to be contented and thankful for what you have right now, even if it isn't the best, you will be happier. Then, we can feel genuine happiness deep in our hearts. 

 

It won't be an easy thing to do. We do not really know when we will be contented with what we have. But let's continue trying!
